Opera Limited d/b/a Opera Software is a Norwegian software company, primarily known for its desktop Opera web browser, and mobile web browser Opera Mini. It was demerged from its parent company Otello Corporation as part of the latter’s divestiture of its web browser business. Opera browsers have more than 350 million users worldwide across multiple platforms.

Opera is also involved in promoting Web standards through participation in the W3C. The company has its headquarters in Oslo, Norway and also has offices in Sweden, Poland, China, Japan, South Korea, Australia, Russia, Ukraine, Iceland, Singapore, Taiwan and the United States.

The company changed ownership when Otello (at the time Opera Software ASA) sold its web browser and consumer businesses along with the Operabrand to a Chinese group of investors in 2016 with the deal completing in November of that year.

Job Title: Web Developer

Description

  • We are looking for a passionate and engaged Web Developer with experience in ReactJS and working with restful APIs. The position is in Lagos, Nigeria and is part of the global Opera Payment Product Department.
  • As part of the front-end team, you will work on delivering multiple different products part of the payment ecosystem
  • As a web developer, you will collaborate with other members of our product, design, and engineering teams to translate user stories and mockups into a living, breathing product.

Requirements

  • B.Sc. in Computer Science or equivalent experience, with a keen interest in technology
  • Ability to work independently, autonomously, and take initiative, as well as being creative and curious
  • Strong web development skills, including:
  • Translation of VD/UX wireframes to visual elements
  • Design of the overall architecture of the web application
  • Implementation of services and APIs to power the web application
  • Building reusable code and libraries for future use
  • Optimization of the application for speed and scalability
  • Integration of the front-end and back-end aspects of the web application
  • A good sense of usability, attention to detail, and polish
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken

Ideal Job Requirements

  • Ability to implement automated testing platforms and unit tests
  • Good understanding of ReactJS, or similar working frameworks
  • Good understanding of server-side CSS preprocessors, such as Sass
  • Understanding how to work with responsive design
  • Understanding of how to integrate towards restful APIs, such as GraphQL

  • As part of the UX team, you will design and deliver a simple and easy-to-use payment experience both on the web and the Android app. As a UX Designer, you will collaborate with other members of our product, design, and engineering teams to translate concepts into a living, breathing product. You will follow up on the new functionality design and maintain the existing design documentations.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver innovative, user-friendly design on web and mobile, including interaction design specifications, interactive prototype.
