Things You Must Consider Before Buying a Power Bank

Most of us feel so disconnected and dead once our cell is turned off as a result of a low battery because no matter what is the worth or the quality of our smartphones, without charged batteries, they are of no use.

It was as a result of the need to keep our phone in constant power that made way for the introduction of power banks  which are widely appreciated and accepted now.

Ever since the power banks were introduced, it became mobile phone users’ best friend as it saves them from having a drained battery. They’re simply a mobile power generating set that can fit into our pockets and bags.

They can charge your smartphone multiple times depending on a couple of factors we our going to discuss. They are even used to charge multiple devices at the same time if you desire to use it that way. Even Laptops have their power banks.

Having a power bank is something but having the right power bank for your device is everything. Below is a list of Things you need to consider before buying a power bank.

Determine The Battery size and The Charger Specifications of Your Device:

This is key to selecting the right power bank for your device. When going out to purchase a power bank, you need to consider and know the battery rating i.e the mAh of your battery. The milliampere hour (mAh) is 1000th of an ampere hour ( mAh ). Both measures are commonly used to describe the energy charge that a battery will hold and how long a device will run before the battery needs recharging – not to worry if you don’t understand, read on, it will be clear. You can find the mAh printed on the battery, the charger or on the box in which your cell was packed. (e.g some batteries have 3000mAh) – yours could be higher or lower than that.

It is quite straight-forward since the capacity of the power bank is measured in mAh as well. Now, when buying a power bank, make sure you buy a power bank that has a mAh that is not less than the mAh of your battery.

Example, if your battery is 3000mAh, make sure you go for a power bank that is 3000mAh as well or higher. If your battery is 3000mAh and your power bank too is 3000mAh, then it means that when your battery is empty, the power bank can charge for battery fully just once.

The output voltage of the power bank should be equal to or higher than that of your device.

Number Of Ports, Size, Weight, and Plugs:

This actually depends upon the number of devices you have, look for the number of ports and cables that your power bank should come with. Getting a power bank that has enough USB ports is vital for charging multiple devices at once. This would help you save time by letting you charge more than one device at a time.

Ensure you check to see if all the ports are rated for the device you are plugging into it as this is not the case for all ports sometimes. The higher the total capacity, the longer your battery will take to charge.

Some don’t see that as a disadvantage as they choose to plug it overnight but not so many phone users are willing to take that risk. The size and weight also matter if you love traveling light or want a pocket-sized one.

For a longer life of your power bank, look for the auto-cut feature in your bank. This would prevent it from getting overcharged.

Value-Added Features And Bundle

Although it is not a major consideration, people patronize a products not just because of what that product offers, but also what they get alongside the product. For example, power banks that let you have a take-along of multi Pronged cables to save you having to lift them around is a great choice.

Most power banks come with a small LED light that you can use as a small torch when needed. Value added features like that have a way convincing you to look their way.

Price and Quality

The pictures you stare at will not reveal the power bank that suits your needs. Reading the specifications and deciding the one that is important for adequate use of the power bank is the way to go. Buying an expensive one does not guarantee a product you will find useful for whatever you intend to use it for.

Cheap power banks also overload and damage phones if they are not of the right quality. You choose a renowned brand – it’s not the cheapest option, but in this case quality matters to you and you’re inclined to pay more.

Branded Options

Sometimes, it is useful to spend a little to save you further costs. Always go with a branded power bank from a trusted seller. Don’t be fooled by tall claims. A power bank can cost you your beloved smartphone.
