Job Title: School Improvement Support Specialist

Location: Yola, Adamawa

Department: Atiku Center (AENEN)

Nature of Employment: Project Assignment

Duration: Three (3) Years

Project Description

  • American University of Nigeria (AUN) Yola is implementing the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) funded “Addressing education in North East Nigeria”
  • The project is intended to develop and strengthen the education system in Adamawa and Gombe States which will enable it to deliver access to high quality education options that respond to the needs of all children without burdening it with addition cost that will result if parallel systems are created.
  • The project will work with state partners and national and international academic institutions to analyze and understand the situation, prepare strategies for various scenarios and test and apply the best fit purpose in each situation. In 3 years, the project will reach 200 schools, 5000 teachers and over 200,000 learners.

Summary of Position

  • The School Improvement Support Specialist will report to the deputy project director, instructional development.
  • S/he will be responsible for improving the skills and knowledge of state education managers to utilize data for teacher and school improvement purposes.

Position Requirements

  • MSc/MA in Sociology/Psychology, Economics or other social sciences
  • 5 years’ experience in community development activities
  • 3 years’ Experience in working with schools and parents
  • Excellent facilitation skills
  • IT skills to be tested.

Job Title: Deputy Director, Finance and Administration

Location: Yola, Adamawa

Department: Atiku Center (AENEN)

Nature of Employment: Project Assignment

Summary of Position

  • The Deputy Director Finance and Administration will manage all aspects of the financial and administrative procedures of the project.
  • S/he will be in charge of all financial reports and supports the CoP with ensuring compliance with financial and administrative matters of the project.
  • S/he report to the Chief of Party

Position Requirements

  • BSc Accounting/Banking and Finance. A post graduate degree will be an advantage
  • Certified Accountant
  • 7 years’ Experience managing financial unit of USAID projects
  • Grant management experience for USAID projects
  • Experience in the use of financial accounting software (to be tested)
  • Experience in project audits
  • Experienced in managing finance and admin staff of projects
  • Knowledge of USAID financial regulations
  • Good trainer
  • Accounting skills will be tested
  • ICT skills will be tested.

  • The Senior IT Officer will manage all of the IT needs of the project. In this position, s/he will be responsible for providing technical support to staff to carry out their duties using ICT. The position holder reports to the deputy director of EMIS

Position Requirements

  • BSc/HND in Computer science
  • 5 years’ experience managing project IT
  • Certified IT technician
  • Experience networking and wireless technology
  • Experience in setting up WAN/Lan systems
  • Highly skilled in computer hardware and software matters
  • IT skills to be tested

Job Title: Deputy Director – Education Management Information Systems

  • The Deputy Director for EMIS will lead the capacity development of key state staff in EMIS while ensuring that the project develops the systems and processes that the states can collect, analyze, report and utilize education data for planning and quality assurance purpose. Reports to the Chief of Party

Position Requirements

  • MSC in Mathematics/Statistics with 7 years EMIS experience or
  • PhD in Mathematics/Statistics with 4 years EMIS experience
  • 7 years’ Experience designing and conducting education census
  • 5 years’ Experience in teaching
  • Versatile in use of statistical software (to be tested)
  • Superb ICT skills (to be tested)

  • The Procurement Officer will report to the Chief of Party and be responsible for all project procurement matters working with the procurement committee.
  • The position holder will also keep an up to date project inventory working with the Asset management Assistant

Position Requirements

  • BA/BSC/HND in Marketing, Purchasing, Accounting, Banking and Finance
  • 3 years experience in project procurement
  • Experience in vendor analysis and selection
  • Good excel skills
  • Good ICT skills to be tested

Job Title: Security Advisor

  • The Security Advisor will provide overall guidance and direction for all security matters that the project staff will likely encounter.
  • S/he will also be responsible for security of staff both local and international while ensuring security of training venues and travel to sites. The position holder reports to the Chief of Party.

Position Requirements

  • BSc in Sociology and other social sciences with 5 years’ experience managing project security
  • MSC in security studies plus 2 years’ experience managing project security
  • At least 5 years’ experience in security profession
  • Retired military/police and or other security service
  • Experienced in the north east security field
  • Knowledge and experience of security equipment
  • Good understanding of child and women rights matters
  • Good network within Nigerian security profession
  • Good ICT Skills to be tested

Job Title: Communications Manager

  • The Communications Manager will manage all project communications both electronic and print as well as be responsible for all press evens.
  • S/he will be in charge of ensuring standards and adherence to USAID branding and marking plan. The position holder reports to the Chief of Party.

Position Requirements

  • BA in English, Mass Communication or related field
  • 5 years’ experience managing project communications
  • Excellent writing skills (to be tested)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good oratory skills
  • Experience developing success stories
  • Experience as a press person
  • Experience editor of print and or electronic media
  • Good editing skills
  • Great ICT skills to be tested
  • Teaching experience will be an added advantage

  • The Security Officer is in charge of state level security of staff and our partners during project events. S/he reports to the Security Advisor

Position Requirements

  • BSc in Sociology and other Social Sciences with 4 years’ experience managing project security
  • At least 3 years’ experience in security profession
  • Retired military/police and or other security service
  • Experienced in the north east security field
  • Knowledge and experience of security equipment
  • Good understanding of child and women rights matters
  • Good network within Nigerian security profession
  • Good ICT Skills to be tested.

Job Title: Senior Human Resources Officer

Location: Yola

Department: Atiku Center (AENEN)

Nature of Employment: Project Assignment

Duration: Three (3) Years

Summary of Position

  • The Senior Human Resource Officer will manage HR functions of the project.
  • S/he will be responsible for managing staff HRT matters and play a critical role in ensuring that staff rights and privileges are protected in particular the right of female members of staff.

Position Requirements

  • BA Human Resources Management, plus 6 years’ experience
  • MA Human Resource management, plus 4 years’ experience
  • Good writing skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Experience in Nigeria labor laws (to be tested)
  • Good people management skills.

  • In this position, s/he will be responsible for supporting state partners to develop their skills in instructional materials creation.

Position Requirements

  • BA in English Language, Mathematics
  • 5 years current or previous teaching experience at primary school level
  • 2 years’ Experience in materials development in educational settings on a donor funded project
  • Good writing skills
  • Above average ICT skills

  • He will mentor state partners in the use of statistical software for education monitoring and planning while training them on reporting and use of the information.

Position Requirements

  • BSc in Mathematics/Statistics with 3 years EMIS experience or MSc in Mathematics/Statistics with 1 years EMIS experience
  • 1 years’ Experience participating in designing and conducting education census
  • 4 years teaching experience
  • Versatile in use of statistical software (to be tested)
  • Good ICT skills (to be tested)
