FUTA Academic Calendar For 2017/18 Academic Session


The academic calendar of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) at its 278th Statutory Meeting held on 29th November, 2017, deliberated on and approved by The Senate of the institution. According to report, the Academic Calendar for 2017/18 Academic Session is as follows:

FIRST SEMESTER 2017/2018 ACADEMIC SESSION
Tuesday 2nd January, 2018 – Commencement of online Registration
Sunday 14th January, 2018 – Return of ALL Students
Monday 22nd - Friday 26th January, 2018 - Orientation for the Freshers
Monday 22nd January, 2018 - Lectures Commence for Returning Students
Monday 22nd January, 2018 - Late Registration Commences
Friday 26th January, 2018 – Normal Registration closes for all Students
Monday 29th January, 2018 - Lectures Commence for Freshers
Friday 2nd February, 2018 - Late Registration for all Students
Friday 9th February, 2018 - Matriculation Ceremony
Tuesday 3rd & Wednesday 4th April, 2018 – Mid-Semester Break
Thursday 5th April, 2018 – Return from Mid-Semester break
Friday 27th April, 2018 - Lectures Ends for the Session
Monday 30th April to Friday 4th May, 2018 – Revision/Lecture-Free Week
Monday 7th May, 2018 – Commencement of First Semester Examinations
Friday 25th May, 2018 - First Semester Examinations Ends
Saturday 26th May to Saturday 16th June, 2018 – First Semester break

The breakdown shows that for the 1st Semester, 14 weeks are for Lectures for Returning Students while Freshers will have only 13 weeks of Lectures, 4 weeks will be allotted for registration exercise and 3 weeks for examinations

Sunday 17th June, 2018 – Return/Registration of all Students
Friday 22nd June, 2018 – Normal Registration Ends
Monday 25th June, 2018 - Commencement of Lectures

Monday 25th June, 2018 - Late Registration Commences
Friday 25th June, 2018 – Closing Date for Late Registration
Thursday 9th - Friday 10th August, 2018 – Mid-Semester Break
Monday 13th August, 2018 -  Return from Mid-Semester break
Friday 28th September, 2018 - Lectures Ends for the Session
Monday 1st to Friday 5th October, 2018 – Revision/Lecture-Free Week
Monday 8th October, 2018 - Commencement of Second Semester Examinations
Friday 26th October, 2018 - Second Semester Examinations Ends
Summary
The breakdown shows that for the 2nd  Semester, 13 weeks are for Lectures for all students, 2 weeks will be allotted for registration exercise and 3 weeks for examinations

The registration timetable for FUTO Freshmen has been announced by the management of Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO). 

The exercise is to last about two weeks (Monday 11th December through Friday 22nd December, 2017) and the venue for the exercise is The School of Sciences (SOSC) Extension Building (Upstairs) near Old SEET Roundabout, FUTO. Shell Scholarship | SPDC-JV University Scheme For Nigerians - 2018/19 Applications are invited from interested candidates for the SPDC-JV University Scholarship Scheme which is offered by The Shell Petroleum Development Company of Nigeria Limited (Operator of the NNPC/SPDC /TEPNG/AGIP Joint Venture).
This scholarship program is provided to Nigerians who have interest in pursuing an Undergraduate degree program in any Nigerian University.

The scholarship is categorized into ;

The National Merit Award (NM) The Areas of Operation Merit Award.

(i)National Merit Award (NM) - Open to all Nigerians.

(ii) Areas of Operation Merit Award - For Nigerians who are indigenes of SPDC’s operational area in Abia, Bayelsa, Delta, Imo and Rivers States
